Replaced all speakers except for the one behind the drivers seat. I have a 97 XLT extended cab 3-door. Anyone know how to get the trim off so I can replace it? This is the only one I have left to replace, and of course it's the hardest to get to.

I've got some speakers I need to install. Was removing the door panel a pain?

Not at all. Just pop the trim piece by the mirror and on the back side of the window off, unscrew the door handle, ad lift up and it pops off. Don't forget to unscrew the door light, you don't want to break the wire. And if you have a 3rd or 4th door those are even easier to take off. Just unscrew the 2 screws for the window latch and the top half of the trim pops off. And the bottom half has 2 screws and a nut to unscrew and then lift up. And if the little plastic pop in clips it won't hurt anything. All of mine broke so I left the holes empty.

The nere 4 door trucks are a breeze, and few screws and a nut and they just lift up. The 3 door trucks(97-98) require a little more work. You first have to remove the rear lower seat pan, then the upper seat back which has 2 bolts holding it in at the bottom. Then you have to remove the seat mount that is bolted to the floor. Unbolt the driver side seat belt. Then there is a bunch of push tab clips holding the panel to the cab. Also dont forget the 2 screws for the pop out window

So in other words I have to take the whole bench seat out of the back to replace that one speaker?

Yep. I've done it so many times it take about 30 minutes.

Well that seems like a lot just to get the panel off to replace a speaker. Oh well. I'll do that tomorrow. It's too cold and getting dark outside to do it tonight. Thanks though.

Moving the bar so I didn't mount it yet. Gonna put it behind the sunroof so I can still do the cab lights maybe.
