Default What to check first?

Wanting too say hello first. I was wanting to check on what I need to update or change out the first. Truck is 2003 F150 crewcab factory stock. 120's thousand miles on it it has been getting the oil changed every 2000, miles from what I'm told. Thinking about changing it over too 4X4. Any and suggestions welcomed.

First off, Welcome. I assume you have a 4x2? You did give a year but not the engine or any information for us to answer.

As far as changing it over to 4x4, forget it. You're frame isn't made for the 4x4 front axle to mount. It would cost you more than buying a 4x4 of your liking. The older trucks you could do this with, but the 97's and up 4x's have Torsion bars for the front springs. You (with 2wd) have nothing for the bars to attach to or way to mount up a regular front differential.

You might be able to engineer using the old style front end under there, but what you would go thru wouldn't be worth the effort or the money. JMO

If you haven't taken possession yet and it's a 4x2 and you want a 4x4 skip it and find a 4x4. In the long and short run it will be less hassle and trouble dealing with stuff that doesn't belong there after you install it.
