What is this?
The light is on because there is a fault in the airbag system. You need to have it scanned and see what fault code you have. Could be faulty air bag , wiring , seat belt pretensioner, etc etc. once scanned and code is retrieved alot easier to narrow down/diagnose.
Most airbag light issues are high resistance in the wiring or a connector. Obviously with an airbag system you need to be extremely carefull, do not probe wires!!!. You need to have the code scanned to see which part of the system is malfunctioning. Then I would dissconnect the battery for 20 minutes and the unplug the connectors and clean them. The other thing u can try is to see if there are any positions with the steering wheel that the horn or other wheel functions don't work. If this happens the issue is the clock spring behind the wheel on the column. Airbag issues can be hard and expensive to fix. Always use common sense and if your not sure don't do it. Common issue are normally in the wires/connectors under the carpet where they collect water or the clock spring.
Disconnect battery, drain voltage from system by touching positive disconnected battery cable to negative post. Remember any voltage/static even can cause the bag to discharge if you are working around the clockspring. Play it safe and ground it dead. After reseting codes see if it comes back on. Also your passenger seat switch may be malf. Someones tennis shoe under there.
