Yeah I see you there if you buy a truck and expecting to get good mileage its stupid and I wouldn't get rid of something that's gonna save my a**. K&n filter straight pipe and small tires are gonna be the best at paying for itself I believe. Do you think 20 mpg is possible with my single cab shortbox 4x4 w/5.4? I'm getting 16.5ish completely stock except for gotts mod.

Spare Tire, Trailer Hitch, Running boards, anything you don't use frequently... Get rid of the rear bumper and put a roll pan.

Get rid of the junk that is piling up in the back seat or bed that you really don't need.
i knew when i got it it wouldnt be great on gas. but at 10mpg i want to do something. im not looking to buy a ton of stuff that cost money but mostly things that are on the truck that arnt necessary.

Cut speed holes in the frame. They did it on powerblock on project "rolling thunder" and lots of hot rodders do it. It saves a little weight and looks cool too

Well do the gotts mod like 12 dollars maybe a little gain in mpg. Straight piping you can do it for 0 dollars but it'll be way way louder than putting in a peice where the muffler was and you can get 2 mpg out of that. New air filter or k&n filter 1-2 more mpg. Unless you take all bumpers off, Hood, doors, seats and sh*t I don't think you'll see very much as far as gains.

Don't fill your gas tank. All that fuel weighs a lot!

I just cant justify to myself buying another car when all the money I spend on that car could be used for gas for the rig. Unless you get a screaming deal on a car.....

the whole idea of having a beater car that gets good mileage is that you drive that more than your truck. that topper in that pic is good for a couple hundred pounds of weight loss.

and if you cut "speed holes" in your frame, you may as well forget hauling anything besides you butt. that's the most ridiculous idea for a daily driver truck I have ever heard

Park it and walk. It's truck. Do you use the bed everyday? Every week? If you don't. Sell it and buy a Focus. If you use your truck. Keep it under 2500 rpms. Drive it light. I see 15ish in town and that's on 35's.
