Default V10 engine swap

I have a 94 f150 and got my hands on a V10 with tranny and transfer case for cheap. Just wondering if anyone has ever done a swap like this and if they had any issues. Thanks

People have. What do you mean by "issues" is it gonna be a complete drop in and turn key? No.

You'd probably find more takers in the proper section.

You are going to need the wiring harness and the PCM also, besides any emission stuff that might be pertinent to the 6.8.

The only regular poster here that ever did it is long gone but you can find a few of his threads here and videos on youtube using "V10 F150 Swap"

If I remember right, the only real issue that he had was, cruise control no longer worked and there was no fix on the horizon.

I'm pretty sure all his swap knowledge was redneck ingenuity combined with stubbornness, lol. He used his factory Ecu and harness with modifications.

No one I know of has ever done it with 94. 3 have done it with gen 10's at F150 online. Users CamdenLake and ishootstuff are two of them.

I've contemplated it for a long time since it was a very very easy swap for these modulars and the V10's are easy to come by cheap. Same engine (modular) with two more cylinders basically as long as you keep it two valve. Even the motor mounts work, you just flip them. There's not enough power and torque w/2v V10 to make it worth while IMO. You can get as much and more from a V8.

A 3v V10, now your talking, same numbers as a factory lightning, but that's much more difficult swap because the of the dash. It's different and doesn't fit a gen 10. Oh it can be done, just a lot of obstacles definitely need a doner.

With a 94 model, good luck. Possible, but I expect you'll give up quickly lol. Daunting.

One user over there, can't recall his name, made a make shift hoist, lifted the cab and front clip off the frame. Threw a V10 in it and brought the cab and everything down on it. Fastest install I've seen. Made it look easy. That's the way to do it since the V10 is so close to the firewall. Used a Bauman Controller for the trans. I believe user ibd here is friends with Bauman. Anyway that's what you need to run the V10 4R100.

In this particular case, the OP is going to need the wiring harness and the PCM. He is trying to put this into a 94. Complete wiring difference and routing.

I can sure see it in a Gen 10. Sounds like it would be a cruiser rolling up and down the hilly roads.

Right, I know that, -and that exactly why I posted Quote, -

And that he would need a doner. Check my post above.

I was telling Wolvee. I read your post and understood where you were coming from. Just keeping things straight in this misaligned thread. lol
