Default Us vs. Them

When I was a child there was a certain pride of car ownership. My father worked for GM, and my grandfather and one of my uncles worked on the line at Ford. I grew up being taught that American cars and trucks was the only way to go, and 20 years later I still believe in that. We need the to get back to the "us vs. them (American auto makers vs. all imports) mindset. We called Asian cars jap junk, and european cars euro trash. Terms I still use today(even though it's not PC anymore). We need to stop bitching amogest ourselves and unite. Ford owners, Dodge owners, and Chevy/GMC owners need to show these yuppy Tundra, Tacoma, and Titan, and everybody else that this is America. Show your pride for your country and drive American. God bless! :-)

Ehh, I don't know. I think what your saying was true for a long time simply because America was the only one selling largers pickups to consumers. Now Toyota has the Tundra and Nissan has the Titan. For the longest time all Toyota had was the little SR5's and Nissan only had the little Nissan Hardbody trucks, but now..that's changed. Nissan and Toyota now have competitors for the F150/1500/1500. I personally like all of them, but honestly, i'd put my money on the Tundra/Titan lasting longer than the current F150/1500/1500 SIMPLY because Toyota and Nissan have always had the legacy of there trucks lastings ~250K+ miles before running into any major issues. If an American vehicle makes it that far it's considered pretty amazing.. Basically i'm trying to say that the imports never had any pickup that could compare to F150/1500/1500 size wise and towing capacity wise until recently.

I love Ford and American trucks in general...but I also enjoy the imports.

The Ford Fusion I am seriously interested in is made in Mexico. The Buick Rendezvous I bought new in 2004 was made in Mexico (found that out after a few weeks). The Motorcraft rotors I just ordered and received are made in China. The Motorcraft pads I ordered and received are made in Thailand. The Buick Encore (new smaller SUV) is going to be made in South Korea.

I am going to be replacing my F150 soon. ALL manufactures are going to be on my list of acceptable vehicles this time around. I say that after over 40 years of buying nothing but Fords or GM's, and never even test driving anything other than those two. If they don't care where their parts or cars are made now, and if they don't pass those savings on from the cheap labor they pay foreign workers, I don't care anymore.

I will now be buying whatever is the best VALUE, and not just to get that warm and fuzzy feeling of "Buy American" like I used to. If they don't care, neither do I!

I agree with the op but u do think Toyota makes good vehicles and so do other overseas manufacturers...but my "american" Ford was made in Canada....still north America I guess but not the USA. Everything is being outsourced in order to increase production and PROFIT so its difficult to preach buy American in todays society...just my opinion

What people get lost in with the 'Made in USA' is that NO car is 'made' in the USA. HOWEVER, all the profits come here because it is an American company. I would rather send my money to a US company than some ferrin job.

I agree with m3t4lm4n222, one of my buddies has a lifted titan and the a lifted tacoma. the titan is an 04, the tacoma is a 2000 i believe. both have had very few problems while my ford truck is not that great so far... owning chevy's before this ford, i might be going back over to that side soon as i am sick of my truck having all these "ford" problems

to be fair i think that we should all buy american, but that is hard to do when american car companies turn out junk. Ford is turning its image and vehicles around, chevy i really see them getting any better, and Chrysler is out of the picture, they are going to be fiat and its subsidiaries within the next five years, so buying one of those 300's imported from detroit is just like buying an import. And as far as tundras, i believe that there is a plant in the us now that produces them, though it is only here because the import taxes are so high, it is technically now made in america. But my point is american pride is thrown out the tubes when american car companies choose not to produce quality machines, when they do wake up and change people will not buy american cars because they are american, but because they are the best, which is what the whole buy american is supposed to mean in the first place, the best

Do a little research on the Internet and you will find that Toyota's now are more American than the big 3. I work for them and it is unreal Toyota's commitment to make cars where they are sold. My next vehicle will be a Yota because I see first hand the outstanding quality put in to these vehicles. Throughout the economic turmoil when other auto manuf. we're laying off, not 1 Toyota employee lost his job and all maintained 40 hrs. The big 3 are falling behind fast and will need to make some changes if they intend to survive. My f150 will burn to the ground before the tundra sits in my driveway however, I love it

The OP's mentality is what gives Americans a bad rep.

Edit- this should be moved to off topic

Default Wrong.

So what many of you are saying is that you would rather have these f-150's made in the U.S. so that they cost 80,000 so some half a** welder can put these trucks together for $30 an hour when a mexican will work for $7.50 which reduces the price of the truck you payed for. The U.S. does this so we can keep the executives in the U.S....... Liberals
