Uphill battle
Hey all. Recently was coming up a slow grade on the 15 coming out of San Diego. It kicked into 3rd the engine light started blinking and it felt like it was losing power. Heck it was. So I slowed it down to 65-70 at 2500 RPM, the light stopped blinking and I kept it there all the way to Victorville. Took it to Ford, performed diagnostic. Code P0174. PCV valve faulty leaking vacuum , spark plugs and mass air flow sensor. Did all that and it seemed fine. Driving back up the Cajon Pass it did the same thing as i wrote in the beginning. Recently replaced the transmission. I t has 361,00 miles right now. What to do?

You have a misfire, - get it scanned third party if the dealership won't level with yuh. You got rooked. Post DTC's here, then we can help.

Yep, a flashing CEL indicates a severe misfire, an intermittent one rarely triggers a CEL on these trucks.

Right, have auto zone scan it. If they try and tell they can't because there's no CEL, just say here I'll do it. Use to work for me anyway.

My neck of the woods!! The cajon pass will do that. Can't tell you how many cars and trucks don't make it through. AutoZone out here arnt allowed to scan anymore. That's what some locations have told me anyways. Pep boys locations still do it

Yeah. Ca doesnt allow parts stores to check codes for some reason. They did advise me on a shop that might do it and they did. Time for the torque app.

Got it scanned nothing showed up. Local shop owner suggested to keep pushing it if the light starts flashing and maybe it will store it. Well I have been driving it all the while and have put about 430 miles on it I even came up the Cajon Pass and n o light. It all seems fine. Suggestions?

Just got my CEL checked, mine blinks sometimes when I'm really on the gas going uphill or after a while going 75-80 on the highway . I was told it could be the DPFE(egr pressure) and to see if it's stuck open due to carbon build up
