Unusual Squeaking in drivetrain
Hello all. I have an unusual squeak in my 2002 Ford F150 4.6, 100k
It's a manual transmission and only happens when:
1) Going in reverse
2) Decelerating while in gear
3) Hear it slightly while accelerating
I do not hear it if I throw it in neutral and rev. the engine. Sounds like a serpentine belt, but only during the times mentioned above so it can't be.
No other vibrations, maybe a u-joint or similar?
Thanks for your help

sounds like a u-joint to me but not positive....you should be able to put truck in neutral (block wheels first) then climb under truck and grab the driveshaft and try to move it up and down and around....if there's play anywhere then its a u-joint but if not not to sure.hope this helps
Had tghe same problem it was the U joint. Mine didnt have grease points on it so I order and aftermarket one that did. Now I grease it when I change the oil sounds better and the drive shaft is lighter so it isnt as much of a strain
