Default Understanding cams

Don't blast me if I'm wrong I'm just trying to get correct info , for our trucks to get the most torque at low rpms we need less duration and more lift? I'm getting a parts list ready for when I finally rebuild, which probably will not be for months or next year. Thankyou

Read the thread: Engine builders talk. Ibd2328 has an excellent write up about cams. Its on page 66 using the mobile app. If this doesn't help, nothing will.

I found it but I'm still uncertain about using less duration with more lift

How much do you plan on spending? This isn't a very cheap task, plus it is usually much more beneficial for CR change, boost, or other power adders.

I'm going to spend 5-7 thousand on the motor, I'm probably going to raise compression to 9.5-1 using 9cc dish pistons, and I'm soon to be adding longtube headers since both my manifolds are leaking due to Broken exhaust studs, atleast by the end of summer or end of August.

It's about impossible to generalize a cam. The heads flow-characteristics play a huge part in that. If you plan to port and polish, go with new ones, change springs, etc, then you can dissect into what cams to use.

Most of the time long duration is ment for high reving engines. High lift gets air in and out faster at low RPMs so that is why they are recommended for low end torque.
