Default Undercoating

Have any of you ever used old oil as an undercoating for your truck? I have heard of it being done before but I don't know what the general consensus is. Thoughts?

My dad said they used WD-40 on the bottom of dirt cars when he was on a pit crew to keep mud off. I'd think oil would be pretty messy so would WD-40 but less so.

On our mud race trucks we would use Diesel... Or Armorall....It will collect dust and whatnnot... But won't allow mud chunks to stick.

My thought is used oil sprayed on the bottom side of a truck is an environmentally bad idea. as for how it would protect against rust? probably poor at best as it would need too many recoatings to do anything really worthwhile.

Armorall or a silicone spray might be a cleaner substitute.

My truck was undercoated with the spray on paint type stuff every year since it was new, and the frame looks great. If you're thinking of undercoating, use the stuff meant for it.

Yeah, if you use oil the feds and state laws might be broken, environmentally.
