Default Type of oil

I was just wondering what types of oil everyone uses. My truck just rolled over 90,000 mi and I its due for another oil change so if anyone really likes the particular oil they are using let me know. Thanks.

Suggest that changing the oil regularly is the big winner. Back when I really drove it - every 3,000 miles, period. Now that my driving habits have changed, once a year, even if it's only been 1,000 miles.

Personally - I go for the cheapest stuff that meets the OEM weight (10W40) and classification (SH) for my year. So far, so good.

I went from 20w50 conventional to I think 5w20 synthetic and gained 1 mpg.

Amsoil or Mobil 1 are the only two oils I use. Amsoil is guaranteed for 25k or one year! It's kind of pricey, like $9 a quart, but if you can go 25k and not worry about it? Well worth the $$ spent!

I use Royal Purple 5w-20 synthetic and it's suppose to make your truck run better since it's a high performance oil, the acceleration is a little smoother.

Mobil 1...even available at Wally World for a not-so-ridiculous price!

I tend to agree with wde3477 in that changing the oil on time and regularly makes more difference than the oil used. I use any major brand that's on sale and if none are on sale I like Castrol GTX because it seems to stay cleaner longer than the other brands.

Of course - if you have the money I totally suggest using a royal purple or mobil 1. You can't beat the protection offered by synthetic.
