Tstat orientation

Just want to be sure, the spring side of the tstat goes into the block- right?

Correct, the spring is the temp sensor to open or close the opening. If its a Motorcraft with the air bleed, it (air bleed) goes up toward the sky.

Yes, it's got a little air bleed thing-a-ma-jig. Almost like a loose fitting pin? I was wondering if that should be up or down.

How hard is the thermostat on the 5.4 to change?? Been think of doing mine as I don't know how old it is.
I've had them be a complete #$%$%$, and have had some changed within minutes.
Haven't even look to find the one on this truck yet.
