Trouble Starting
I have a 1998 f-150 and it starts great in the morrings but when i have ran it and go back to start it later it turns over for a long time then it finaly starts and i have no idea why it takes so long
Just a guess, but I would look at the engine running in the dark ? to see if you see any spark jumping around, and maybe spray a little water near the coils ? one maybe cracked or weak. How old are the plug wires ? and plugs ?

My wire rotted right off at the starter on my 97 f-150 with no warning, also did the same thing with a friend of mine with a 97 f-150. Found out later that was quite a problem with the year. Glad it happened in my driveway.

Hello everyone, I'm new to this site so bear with me please. I have a 1988 ford Bronco 4x4 with a 5.8l . The problem I'm having is I have no power at all. I put new batter in and cables. When it started yesturday I took the ground cable off to check Alternator while it was running and it stayed running. Now I have no power at all. Like the batter is dead. What do I do ?
Hi Bret, welcome to the forum. Will say something later about thread hijacking. So you have new battery and replaced both cables. Naturally, recheck both ends of each cable, push and pull at all four points. As I am not a guru of when changes have been made in the Ford line, I am going to assume you have the fender mounted starter relay. Coming off of this should be some fuseable links, they look like normal wires, but are actually fuses. I think they are a Ford item only. One of these possibly fried when you did the old school, disconnect the battery thing. I am old school myself, but disconnecting a battery while the engine is running is a no no. Electrical surges and shi* like that. Use a test probe to see if power is going thru them about 8" away. Its always best to use a voltmeter to check for alt output.
As you become more familiar with moving around the site, you will find better more suitable areas to put up your issue, hijacking really limits exposure. Always start a new thread, alot of readers won't bother talking about issues not pertaining to the thread starters topic.
Good luck and get back to us, go the the year section of the truck and hit the new topic button.

I brought it in to 2 differents shops and they still haven't fixed my problem but they told me they pressure tested my fuel pump and did a press. fuel treatment and my truck still has problems starting and even when i stomp on the gas theres lots of hesitation. just note. i did changed the spark plugs, new battery, new fuel filter and air filter and still no success.
