Lightbulb Transmission type

Don’t know what transmission I have, I have a 98 5.4 V8 Triton 2WD, just wanna know what type of transmission filter I need, that’s why I’m wondering what type I have. Would appreciate the help. Also not sure if I have a bad transmission, it hesitates, but hasn’t got any worse, I think it’s cuz I have to much transmission fluid from the idiots who had the truck before, lmk.

98 has an E40D behind the 5.4. Your drivers door sticker will have a E where it says Trans. If it should show a U, then it is a 4R70W. 98's only used this with the 4.6 and 4.2 in 97-98.

So my sticker on door to show transmission type and has a U, but I called previous owner n he said it had original parts like engine and transmission, so would it still be a E40D or a 4R70W? E40D right?

U is a 4r70w. 98 has a E for e40d.

Malo....post the first 9 digits of the VIN so we can see what is wrong with this scenario. We don't need the digits at the end to see what your truck is about.
