Searched and really couldnt find a definate answer. Looking to find out whichs type of transmission i have. The repair manual i have says they used 3 types if automatics for my year but didnt go into detail on how to determine which is which and online vin decoders dont give a tranny type. Is there a way to determine by pan shape? I see no tags on tranny. Its a 97' standard cab flareside, 5.4L electronic 4x4. Any help would be great.

On my 98 4.6 I was able to determine what tranny I had by the pan shape. Can't recall which is which now though...

If your pan is 23x13" it's an e4od, 13"x13" is 4r70w
