So I started to go up a hill and I got stuck, so I went neutral and slid down the hill, selected 4 HI (on the fly switch) and tried the hill again and no dice, still 2wd, no matter how long I waited I could not get 4wd to engage, so i turned around and went the other way (still snowy/icy) so I tried engaging 4hi and still nothing. later after dropping off my friend I tried it again and there was a very loud clunk and, ruff ride, yet still no 4wd. I'm at aloss here any help would be nice

okay I went out today and tried 4x4 again, still no dice, the 4x4 lit up and every few seconds there would be a slight clunk.

 

Is there fluid in the tcase?
