Well in any case you have taken fluid out, I'd finish the job. Clean it off and see what you have after a few days. Check it often.

If leaking or if you think you have bigger issues I'd take it to a trusted mechanic at that point to check it out.

thats what I'd do
It was sitting.

Regardless, finish the fluid change, clean outside area with brake cleaner, look for leaks. If your still worried take it to a garage.

You dont wanna drive it now with partial fluud.

I just called my buddy who works at ford, and he said the same thing you're saying. Despite that fluid came out of the fill plug, he says they are overfilled more often than not.

Also, just for conversations sake, he said almost as many leaks at the dealership are caused by loose bolts holding the transfer case to the transmission verses just input and output seals.

Sounds like you're on the right path then. Refill with fluid, clean everything, make sure bolts are torqued to spec, and keep an eye on everything

I refilled with the valvuline that white suggested. It look two quarts and I let it settle for several minutes until it stopped leaking out of the fill plug.

I cleaned everything up. We will see over the next few days what is going on.

Alright, good job

Great job cleaning all that off. You should be able to see any leakage that may occur.

Trans fluid after a drive (maybe 7-8 miles) in the city.

Good level? Top off?

No,, dont add fluid.

7 or 8 miles not enough to bring vehicle up to temperature. The transmission fluid needs that warmth to heat up and expand, otherwise your guessing on the level.

I'd leave it alone.

You check the transmission while the truck is idling correct?

Yeah, I took the woman out to get a Christmas tree and parked in the driveway, hopped out, let it sit for a few and checked the level while it was idling and on a flat surface.
