I have a bad grinding noise and I believe it's coming from my transfer case. I'm just wondering if I take the front cover off if something is broken inside it will wreck everything. Should I just take the transfer case off in one piece????

 

Unless you are experienced in messing with the transfer case don't do that. Try and get it on a lift and run it in gear slowly so you can pinpoint the noise. Double check and make sure that he transfer case is full of fluid, if not it may be bad.
