Made some progress today. Turned out to be the maf. Replaced that and it seems to be shifting fine. But, I when I went to test it on a hill I started from the bottom at a stop and about half way up gunned it. It shifted down like it was supposed to but it stayed at 4500 rpm and wouldn't go over 35.

Well that's slippage. Convertor loosing it's clutch would be very weak, you couldn't burn out in low. Sounds like trans itis.

Buddy of mine who is a trans mechanic at a ford dealership charged me 250 and parts were about 500 including the torque convertor and fluid. Cheapest shop around here wanted 2500
