It is a 351M , don't what he did to though, sounded good. Mine has 143k doesn't use any oil between 3000 mi changes, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with mine, except the friggen temp/compass and I'm working on that.

I think it'd be cool. But it seems like more of a toy, I'd keep your truck.

yea i wouldn't do it, i MIGHT would consider it if he had done the smart thing and put a 400 crank & connecting rods in it when he rebuilt it.. the 351M just doesn't make enough power to try to compare it to your truck.. just throwing this out there, the 73-79 body style is my absolute favorite so it takes a good bit to keep me from trading mine one one.. espeacaily a 4x4 super cab.. those are hard to find in my area.

No, I would not trade down for an older Ford. Older vehicles generally have more wear on the chassis, which generally means rust. Not to mention, people are always having to fix older vehicles and they're generally more expensive to fix because the parts are harder to find. I know someone who has a 1981 Jeep J10 4x4 and it's super cool, but it also has problems quite often because it's older. He bought the truck for a killer $400, Restored it for about $600 and it's a great truck for $1000...but like I said, it's always needing work.
