Default Towing capacity

I have a 1998 Ford F-150 4.6L and just for some future reference I would like to know if it would be able to tow a small car (sports car, sedan, etc.) on a flatbed trailer. I looked it up and it was saying the towing capacity was 1,700 to 2,300 lbs but I saw a thread on a different website and he said his 1997 4.6 was 6,600 lbs. so I would just like to know if it would be able to tow a small load like a small car

What cab, transmission, axle ratio and transmission do you have? 2WD or 4WD. It all makes a difference.

It is between 2000 lbs and 7200 lbs.

auto or manual transmission?

Gear ratio still makes a difference. A 4x4 is between 2300 lbs (manual transmission with 3.31) to 6600 lbs (auto with 3.31 or 3.55).
