The non operative CEL could be as simple as a burned out bulb in the dash. Not an easy diagnosis though... Pull the dash unit and use a voltmeter to check for 12v at the CEL (MIL) at Ignition on. After that it gets hairy, GEM, PCM...

Idk if the guy I bought it from disconnected the wire for it or what where would it be disconnected

Ok it was the bulb for the check engine light and I replaced the spark plugs and and the rubber thing going from the coils to the plugs but now I went to use my brothers scanner but it wont even come on I can't check what codes are still there
