Default Time To Face My Biggest Problem Yet.

So i purchased my 2002 True Blue F150 supercrew Fx4 about a year ago. This is my first vehicle and it has given me no problems and has been very reliable and runs like a dream! When we bought it i noticed some small checkering in the paint but didn't think much of it. It has progressively gotten worse! Keep in mind that i wash my vehicle every weekend and wax it about every month and a half or so. I will upload a picture tomorrow of the paint. The problem areas include the hood, front left fender, roof, and both driver side doors. I love this truck and have put a decent amount of money into it and dont want to let it go. So where do i go from here? i have read that some people have filed claims against ford and won. I'm obviously out of warranty so i highly doubt the ford dealer will do much. So my plans for tomorrow are to go to my local ford dealer and see what they have to say about it(worst they can say is they cant do much). I will also go to a body shop nearby and get a quote on what a repaint would cost. I Have googled the problem and it is very common in darker colored vehicles 2000-2005 year models. So why hasnt ford done a recall if they know a problem exists? I guess i will see what happens tomorrow. Update and pictures coming soon.
Thanks for looking everyone! have a safe and fun Labor Day.

Yea, you'll have to get some estimates. Let them know your getting estimates as well as paying cash. Or just ask what the cash price is. That should help a bit. Make sure they know it's non insurance uknow.

If you can, talk with a worker. A lot of those guys do side work.

could have been wrecked and repainted. My dads 03 has been wrecked and the clear Is peeling. My 03 has not been wrecked and the paint looks great.

As far as re-painting it, when my tire came off and messed up my fender, I had a shop re-paint a scrap yard fender. I have vermilion red (Probably the most expensive red Ford used lol), and it costed me about 300.

Looking at 1k+ fo repaint of hood, fender, roof and doors. It's about $400 per panel in my area.

Ford would never recall it because it's not a safety issue.

well everyone. Bad news... I was told today that this defect in the paint requires me to go all the way down to bare metal and then redo the paint job. I was told that it would be best to just do the whole truck since the checkering will most likely start to show up in new areas soon.... so all in all the body shop said it would be $4000 for the entire repaint... i dont have that kind of cash. then i proceeded to the ford dealer (Mountain Home AR). the lady there started to tell me that its was the clear coat, then i explained the entire situation, and she sent me to the body shop manager. He was friendly about it and told me straight up that it would be about a $6500 dollar job... Damn! I only paid $8250 for the vehicle... What now? should i start a lemonade stand and start collecting quarters? I have talked to my dad and we both agreed that we shouldnt get rid of the truck because its such a good runner and helps us haul our boat. Here is a picture of my truck: this is a couple weeks old
