Default Third Brake Light Switch

I was looking wire up my third brake light/cargo light to its own switch. I hate having to leave a door open to keep my cargo light on. Has anyone done this?

I would find the power wire for the cargo light and run a switched hot wire to it where all you have to do is flip the switch.

But as it is stock right now you can also run the cluster dimmer wheel all the way up where it clicks and they will come on without you having to open the door

Ya I have been doing that too but I just didn't want my entire cab lit up. I guess I'll have to find where the wire runs behind the dash. Thanks though!

I think it would be easier to hook in at the light itself because the one in the dash may be the cargo and dome light both. But I may be wrong

So I would just hot wire into it at the light and run the wires under the trim to a switch near the dash? Maybe I'll run it to a switch in the back seat. Hmmm.

That's how I would do it. Put it beside the power outlet in the back, and pull your hot wire off of it.
