I got it in today... after a big flush of the system and all new seals, I did a vacuum test. It wouldn't hold vacuum. So, I took the compressor back out, and checked every connection. It was all sealed as it should be.
BTW, this compressor is QUIET!! I didn't even know it was on. I was going to get my scan tool to kick it on to pull in the R134A, but then I looked down and saw it was actually engaged.
After an hour or two of piddling around, I remembered that my first Pittsburgh gauge set would bleed off vacuum when it was wide open. Long story short, although the Pittsburgh set is still quite usable, I splurged for a new Icon set. It's pretty damn nice too!
A while back I bought an evacuator, and a tank. But I still needed a scale, so I ordered this on Amazon last night. Coming up soon is my F150.
I have been kicking around the idea getting the A/C working on the Vette.
But it needs everything, and I don't drive it enough to warrant the cost.
Plus, when it's really hot out, I don't go to the car show and bake on the blacktop.
Just got home from the local Monday night car show.
Had some new to me cars there tonight.
Probably over 2 hundred total.
Was the Pittsburgh suppose to be bleeding off ? Something to do with the 2cfm vs 3cfm pump you have coming ?
Def looks good.
It was bleeding off when the valves are wide open. Must have a slight leak in the seal - so no, it's not supposed to. I am going to give this Pittsburgh to my Brother, and just tell him not to open it all the way. It's still very usable, I just wanted an excuse to get the Icon, lol.
Phil... I am going to start pricing AC stuff for Frankie. I only have the brackets and bolts needed to install it. I've also been wondering how well these new electric pumps might work.
