I agree, Phil, especially with all that corrosion on the piston. Regardless, all that caliper was good for was a core return.
You guys haven't overhauled many calipers with phenolic pistons, have you?
That white corrosion will wipe off and the piston will be fine
If there is a big chunk missing, then you get another piston

Dislike working on cars so it's just friends fam and me. Never for a living. Usually end up doing that shiiii myself. ..want it done correctly w/good parts. I manga it myself when I have the time. Pretty much learn from folks like you who I feel use good practices and seeming to care about what they do.
Phenolic and steelies ...done both. The 1/2 ton had the phenolics until I broke the drivers-side.
That's if I'm included as one of the guys..as you put it lol.
If you've done any, that's good enough
I've overhauled dual piston Ford truck calipers till I was blue in the face back in the day
They first made us add a heat shield kit as a recall
Then we overhauled calipers using new phenolic pistons
Then we overhauled them again with steel pistons
That was the old fix, back to steel pistons
And now they are back to phenolic
Fun stuff
Resulting from my trashed RF tire, my wife took my truck in for an inspection and alignment today, and to get my two new tires installed. Toe was out badly on both sides, and caster was out on the left. They fixed the toe, but they told her caster isn't adjustable on these trucks, and sent her home without adjusting it or camber.
I know it's adjustable. I replaced the upper arms and added the adjustment washers, and used them to rough align it as a part of the installation.
The problem is that my wife, bless her heart, insisted on taking it to a Big O.
I told her they'd do it wrong, and they did.
You need the "cam bolt" and the cam washer on the other side
If you only had the cam washer, on one side of the factory bolt, they might say it's not "easily" alignable
A caster split will make the truck pull, the alignment shops have a hard time making one go exactly straight
It's all about CYA at those places
