Like the title says...I need a winter truck...found a couple with about 12X,XXX miles on em...dealers say they are 100% mechanically...is there anything i should look for or expect to go wrong anytime soon? the one has a 6month/7500 mi warranty on basically everything...any info would be nice...thanks!

oh yeah, both are 4x4 with 4.6l....priced between $3-4k

120k miles for 3-4k, 4wd and a 4.6 v8? That's a decent price.

The 4.6 are a good motor and last a long time. If you tow, 5.4 is better but for the occasional tow it's good.

I would just check for normal wear and tear. Get under the truck, look for rust, check the suspension. Ask for a carfax from the dealer, make sure it hasn't been in any wrecks.

That's all I can think of right now.

the one has quite a bit of body rust but everything else looks to be in good shape...the other has one rust spot

Got my 98 Flareside for 6500 bucks with 87k on it. It was originally supposed to be a winter driver as well so that i could garage my little Acura.

Flash forward a bit.

SOLD the Acura for 10k. Spiffed up the truck, and its the only vehicle i now own. You may be surprised what that truck will do to you.

Default things to look for

listen for the ball joints when the front end flexes
also listen for exhaust leaks that could be related to the manifold studs being broken

I got a 2000 extended cab with factory tow package, 5.4 64k original miles for $4300 but this was about 1.5 years ago and from a private party, also 2 wd limited slip.
