terrible noise possibly from trans?!?!?!
so just recently my truck has been making a terribly loud squeaking/rattle noise when at high rpm's in 1st and 2nd gear. its totally fine at low rpm's and in any gear other than 1st or 2nd, i have a 2002 4.2l with an auto trans. anybody got any clue what it could be or how to get rid of the noise? i d really appreciate any input

Slipping lol most likely..... I have an edge programmer on mine and o man on 2 or 3 does it ever slip bad I can hear it. Take it easy on the thing or she is gonna break. Best fix rebuild. My fix for mine will be a high performance torque converter and a heavy duty trans out of a 250 or 350 with 5.4 with a rebuild Proly as well. I intend on hp mods later so its a must for me. I also increased trans pressure still slips stock no issues but that's just no fun lol

Could be wrong but mine is the same fine at low speeds bad at high speeds. Just don't beat on it should be fine. If you continue to abuse it eventually something will fail. That's why I tend to take it easy on mine. So now im gonna start part searching for when it does lol.

My other fix is increasing line pressure but without a programmer you can't do that. Also on a stock trans it can lead to failure as well. But stock you can only increase it so much to eliminate the slipping but man does it slam into gear ha. Which in turn can break stuff too lol. I had that thing on 3 and punched it got upwards of 5 grand shifted from 1st to 2nd and it slammed with a big delay and actually stalled the motor a little im like holy sh..!!!!! So not gonna do that again. So in all line pressure can be bad and slippage can be bad too its half and half.
Performance shift kit could help. Also new high performance clutches would be good too.
Im gonna snag one from a junk yard and build it so when it does go I can just swap um out and be back on the road in a day or so.

im just gunna run mine till it takes a **** cause its fine under 3000 rpm. what would be a good aftermarket trans for my truck? cause if im gunna put a new trans in it when this one dies then its not gunna be a stock one because the stock gearing sucks
