1 should work fine. My high speed fan never comes on so I only have the one 14" fan pulling air

What type of controller should I use with it and relay? From what I read these pull a lot of power

Depends how much you want to spend and the quality. I got mine from madenterprise made specially for my fans. I've also got the cheap $20 one from advance going on my other truck too, not sure how well it works yet since I haven't hooked them up but my madenterprise controller works perfect

I just have one plugged in though. I was running two and it was burning the relay and the holder for it, was pulling to many amps from the two. I just have them wired to a relay and to a switch in my cab that I flip every time I turn the truck on.

Just get a thermostatic fan controller then. It turns on when it gets hot enough, and mine cuts off at highway speeds and has 3 temp sensors
