Suspension "Keys"
I own a 99 ford f250, and was wondering where to find keys on suspension, how do i crank them up, advantages and disadvantages? Any problems that may occur? How much lift? Can i raise them a little bit? I have airbags in the back can i still turn keys or should i just inflate airbags?
Keys are under the cab you will see two torsion bars running from the front end the about the middle of the cab. the bars end into the keys. under the keys there is a bolt the more you drive the bolt in the more lift your going to get. the more you lift the faster balljoints and such wear out. but it won't be substantially faster. unless you go with aftermarket keys. you will get around 2" with stock keys maxed out.
i also have a question pertaining to this. my buddy is giving me two inch lift blocks so i can lift the rear a little. and i was thinking about buying the keys for it. i would want the front of the truck to sit level with the new added blocks. would i get more lift with the keys or just crank the hell out of the torsion bars. and yes i know the effects of just cranking them. i just want to know which will achieve a higher lift.
You can crank your stock keys to the max and see how she sets then. if she won't make it to level then you can get aftermarket keys. i know you know the effects but cranking the bars more than the stock keys allow will shorten idler arms, ball joints, and cv's like crazy. especially paired with big tires. there are guys replacing what i just mention every 3 months with aftermarket keys. which is ridiculous imo. but its not my truck. my truck sets up higher than most in the rear and with my bars maxed she sets level. it sits like i have a 2" block in the back but its all stock.

I would assume so but i don't have experience with them. I wanna ask you some questions about the bags. do you have the inside cab controller and compressor mounted on the truck to air them up? How Much did they run you?

Oh i see that's cool. you look under your rig you will see two bars on each side of the truck running from the front suspension to the middle of the cab. theres a cross member where the bars end and keys on top of the cross members with bolts that go through the cross member and push on the keys the more you crank the bolts the higher the keys are pushed which equals more lift.
