A it possible to put in a Superduty tailgate lift assist on the stock tailgate? I know people have put the actual Superduty tailgate on their truck, but I was just looking to put the lift assist in. Thanks.

 

I think the lift assist is a spring system inside the tailgate so I don't think you can just swap it over.

 

No you can not just swap it over. It has a torsion spring in side the gate that is driven by the drivers side tail gate mount. If you really want it pickup a work truck tailgate from 08+ SD and swap it. I bought one today for my grandfathers truck for a OE style rear view camera and It cost $450 with the new mount.
