Default Superchips Tune?

So i finally broke out the superchips tuner that i had bought used off a fellow member on here. It came stock with 3 tunes, 87 octane, tow tune, and high performance(91). I loaded just the 87 tune because i'm too cheap at the moment to run 91 octane. It started her up and everything was fine. Now i'm not saying anything bad happened but when i gave her full throttle i def noticed that its got a higher rev limiter and it tops at 6k before it shifts which is kinda nice but it made my belt squeek the first time so i'm asking if that could be bad to run it that high without wearing it out somehow. I'm not a very knowledgable person when it comes to motors. I know the basics but wanted a little more input on the matter. I would greatly apperciate it. It didnt squeek anymore just the first time. Thanks again

I have a Superchips tuner and run the 91 octane performance mode. I remember when I first loaded it the shift points did extend on the rpm range and the lag between gears did seem alot less. The part about the Superchips I like the most is the idle, can hardly tell when its running with my hand on the wheel.
With all that said if I had paid full price for the tuner I would have been disappointed but $209 new off ebay I'm ok with it. Running the 91 mode I do get better fuel mileage [around 2 mpg better] when I keep my foot out of it.

I have the superchips tuner and have a question. Once you use a tuner on your truck it is vin locked to that truck and can't be used on any other truck except to check DTC's. So was this tuner used before you bought it and if so how is it unlocked.
As far as the belts, I haven't really fooled with mine on the 91 setting. Mostly towing performance when I am pulling my camper. And 87 the rest of the time. Never had any belt issues.

it is vin locked and will stay that way until you uninstall the programmer and then it can be used on another vehicle.. CHAD1972 can you tell a difference when u put it on the tow portion compared to 87 mode? i always forget to change it over when i pull my mud truck and i hate towing my mud truck now feels like my truck drags *** with that heavy *** truck behind it.. def gona change mine to tow mode next time i pull my mud truck and see if i can notice a diff.

Yes I can definitely tell a difference. I have a 29' travel trailer that I tow. I enjoy keeping it on the tow mode just running around. It makes a real difference with no trailer. Just have to run higher octane gas so the valves don't chatter.

Yea chad, i bought it off a fellow here. The code for the superchips is 1715 which you can use on 4.6 and 5.4 with no problems. The guy who sold it to me just hooked it back up to his truck went back to his stock program and then its unlocked for something else. I think its nice that you can do that unlike SCT's tuners where you have 5 shots and it gets locked and you have to spend money to get it sent in to get unlocked. Thats my .02 cents though.

I have the same tuner, plpugged it in and drove with it on 87 Octane, didn't really notice and help with gas mileage. Starting to think I didn't do something right. Supposedly you can program it to run bigger tires, anyone know how? Or noticed better MPG's?

How did you fella's do the 91 octance. Wait until you had to fill up again on the 91 then loaded the tune, how did you go about doing this?
