Default Sunroof

2001 SuperCrew... Rolled the sunroof back and it's jammed open, the shade and the sunroof are completely under the headliner. Sure could use a tip.

Thanks

Thanks for your response... I did check the owner's manual and did a visual inspection. There is no mention of a manual option for closing the sunroof (moonroof) in the owners manual and I don't see one. Seems like the motor and switch are functional and my thoughts are that something got wedged on the track. Was hoping I wasn't the first one this happened to.

motor is probally bad or there is bad wiring that might have came loose, if you have not noticed any binding when it goes back recently then its very doubtful that its mechanical problem... probally wiring check your fuses check your harness pull your roof liner off and look for burned out wires

Fellas,

First, Thanks for your input.
Reminder, window is in the open position. When I push the button to "open" I can hear something in the roof at the back of the window, like the motor bumping. When I try to "close", I get nothing. When the window last opened and went into the stuck open position, I thought I heard/felt something mechanical causing a WTF reaction on my part. I wasn't surprised when it wouldn't close. Question is was the mechanical issue I felt caused by what was then an intermittant and now dead switch? I know I could drop the headliner and appreciate the advice, but have to admit I'm nervous about doing that. I ordered the switch which I will pick up tomorrow and R&R. Question, anyone ever pull the little console? There are no screws so I have to say I'm concerned about busting it or a clip.
Thanks and Yo, I will follow up on the post whatever which way it ends up.

Rod

Drop the headliner it should be nothing more than plastic tabs throughout the whole thing that if you break or snap off are pretty cheap to replace since they are plastic. Look for alignment issues like the track being borken. I think there areplastic tabs on that track too check them to. Its kind of hard to give advice on something that you cannot see

And buy a chiltons manual or if someone had a bootleg copy online check it out and look for the plastic parts in the manual. See where you can pull and wehre you cannot pull

Also check the "brace" that holds the cover straight. When the sunroof is in the propped up position you can see it. I had a little screw back out that held it down and it caused a rattle and a slight stick when opening fully. Tightened up the little screw after getting the brace back in straight and it worked fine.
