Default Suggestions for headlamp replacement?

My 2001 F150 has terribly dim headlights, and the lens are cloudy as all get out. I've had them "brightened" once, I just don't see that as a long term solution.

I am looking for suggestions for a good replacement kit for the headlamp/turnlight module. I don't have to have the best, just a moderately priced set would do me.

Anything on eBay or Amazon that you would recommend and any pitfalls I should be aware of in purchasing or installing?

Thank you!

There are about 1000 posts on headlights here, a 2 second search would find them.

But the quick answer is anything but Spyder projector light housings (poor light output, leak, LED's and Halo's go out and are not replaceable, have to rewire to make them work etc) or any once piece systems(headlight and corner light in 1 piece, those have major fitment issues).

If your looking for cheapest, Get some of these clear chrome housings with clear corners. You don't have to get the side lights, I did not replace mine for quite a while and I thought they looked fine.
These, even with the basic Sylvania bulbs that come with them, will be much greater output that the old, hazy fluted lenses.

There are about 500 different styles on e-bay/Amazon from around $70 (for both headlight and corner lights) to several hundred. Some are chrome, some are black, some have LED's.

There is also a thread on here about converting to true projector HID housings (using the same lights I linked to above).
Edit: here is the retrofit page with a ton of info and pics. Interesting read even if your not going to do it.

For a stock look with really good output look up a lightning replica set with some Silverstar or Nighthawk bulbs. Should be less than $100 for everything.

I have both headlight housings in the box, just got shipped from Amazon. Yes, Amazon. I did a search for my truck type with headlamp housing and voila', right there on Amazon (where I order lots...). I was hoping to get them on my truck last weekend but didn't get to it. I buffed the exterior but they are bad on the inside - and I didn't feel like baking them in the damn oven, especially when the pair were less than a hundred bucks.

I personally recommend https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

75 bucks, direct factory replacement, and it gives you that Lightning-style look. DO NOT TRY TO USE LED'S with these headlights though, the scattering is too bad. Ultra-bright Halogens will work flawlessly, and will outperform stock. Zero modifications required (although, I do recommend removing your grille, as it makes the install seamless). Comes with all associated hardware, direct drop-in replacement. If you match up your adjusters relatively the same on the new ones, when you install them they are usually dead-on accurate. I do advise purchasing the special tool to adjust the headlights, though. It's a good thing to have, and you can get one on Amazon for like 15 bucks (Half of what parts stores sell them for).

Edit:

To see what they look like, check my avatar pic, that's them installed on my truck!

I have Ford factory Lightning headlights, Depo markers and fog lights and a dirty front bumper in this picture. I found the OEM's (I know, I pulled them), from a rolled 2002 Lightning 4 years ago and stuck them in then.

I also have factory Lightning headlights in my lil Red 98 SB. I picked them up off a buddy in California, who got ran over by a box truck. Totalled that poor lil Lightning. He sent them to me a couple years ago. I almost sold them, but thought better and am glad I did. It makes our Gen 10's so much better looking. (Note: I try to almost 100% use factory parts. Rarely do I do aftermarket body or interior pieces. I did with the t/s corners and fogs on Blue, but that was necessary being a 98. Hard to get good fog lights used for 97-98's). My Mustang, now that has a/market front t/s and rear side markers, as well as Raxion taillights (but I have all the take off parts that can be reinstalled in short order).

My lights are a bit dim due to deteriorated headlights too.
Sanding and buffing out only lasts if you spray a clear catalyzed uv stable coating on.

I bought new oem style housings (headlight only) for $38 shipped.

several years ago I bought new headlights housings and the turn signal housings on ebay because I was having the same problem with fogged up lenses on my 98 F150. I looked at several options in aftermarket headlights but finally settled on a guy who was selling OEM units at a good price. I tried to look up the transaction but ebay only lets me go back to 2014 and I believe I bought these in 2012. As I recall, I only paid about $40 for everything and these have been perfect. Easy to change out and they continue to be clear with good visibility at night after nearly 5 years. I also changed the rear tail lights to dress up my truck and these also have been a low cost and all around good purchase.
