Default Subwoofer locations?

Currently have 2 12's in a box in place of my center console. Long story short, I hate it with a passion. I want to throw back in my factory console, get my cup holders back, but I don't want to give up the woofers.

The subwoofers I have have a 6 7/8" mounting depth. I don't think I can do a seat lift because none of the torx bolts will budge. Does anyone have any creative ideas for a box build? I wouldn't mind building my own box under the seat, but I know I won't get that much mounting depth.

Hmm...I was looking into this somewhat awhile back...

One idea I liked was lifting the back seats and mounting back there. There are some kits out there for that, but you could just put 'em on solid blocks if you wanted. If you go that route, then you have however much room you care to give yourself at that point.

PS - If the bolts are giving you issues (as they do with most), try using a torque wrench. My dad has one from his days on the shop floor, and it comes in handy way to often for both me and him.

Also...do you still have your original console? I may be interested if your willing to part with it.

Good luck, and beautiful truck! Red is such a gorgeous color on 10th gens, Xtends especially.

Either do a seat lift or lose the small seat out back and build a custom box.

If your really set on 12's its a much harder solve to fit them in the cab. If you went with 10's you would have more options and room to get them under the back seat. They make low profile subs and boxes to that would work to. I have 2 10's that I have had for 12 years that are still like brand new after lots of abuse and will blow you out of the cab so dont worry about losing much by stepping down to a 10 inch sub.

I'll give the torque wrench a shot. I broke two of the torx attachments though. For now I'm going to hang onto the center console, but if I ever decide to let it go, I'll let you know. Thanks for the compliments also! Your truck seems to be coming along great too!

Ah, what a disappointment ... oh well.

And if you do get the torque wrench, be sure not to put to much torque on it from the get go as you could do damage. Start at a low torque and work your way up for the safest bet.

Do a blow through, then you've got plenty of room
