sub box question
So I put an old sub in my truck. It doesn't fit in my truck so I was thinking about making a new box for it. But it was a sub already boxed with the amp in it also. Since it was already boxed can I still make my own box and place the amp some here else or would that not work with the sub
Are you talking ported sub box vs sealed? It's your call what you want. If you're talking about the amp, since room is tight, build the box for the sub first (correct cubic foot size) and then mount the amp second. You can place the amp on top of the box, or on the side or under the seat. Get a good fitting box first.
People say vented/ported boxes will sounds better but it all depends on a lot of different factors I have had both in previous cars and they all sounded good to me. I am fixin to add 2 10's under my back seat in a none ported, downward firing box, with amp mounted behind the seat so it's out of the way.
A sealed box is going to give you quick, accurate bass. It looks kinda funny typing it out but itll sound like "boom. boom boom", a ported or bandpass box will pump out more bass than a sealed box but will be a lil less accurate meaning like it kind of echos the bass. Itll sound like "booooom. Boooooom boooooom". If your lookin for a box thatll be pumpin out alot of bass then get a bandpass but if you want more of a cleaner sounding sound system then get a sealed box. I recommend a ported box, best of both worlds.

I'll probably go with a sealed box. But I'm having trouble finding a correct cubic size for it since it is a sub that is sold with it already in a box. I measured wear I want it to go and its 6.5x14x11. Not sure if that is a big enough space for a 10"sub or not.
