Seal is cheap. If you replace the yoke, it should be done buy a driveshaft shop to verify the driveshaft is balanced.

Did you out a notch in the metal where seal goes? That might be why seal is leaking.

I had a mechanic do the work, how do I check to see if he did or not?

You would have to pry out the seal and look at the surface.
