If your resistance to single-din is only because of the practically useless "slot" found on most single-din adapters, you can get one like mine, where I installed 2 micro switches (with plenty of room for more). This allowed me to install standard adapters for the RCA jacks, since I have the '98 with factory external amp, and therefore more wiring. Didn't have to cut a single wire, nor hack the mounting anywhere to install.

I'll do that! I wish I took pictures as I was installing it. I wire-tied the harness adapters to that bracket that is on top of the unit, which would have to be cut of you did the double-din install. This was neat, the wiring is on top of the unit with no rattles, and has plenty of room for aux switches, or even nothing if you want. Most folks just hate that slot for a CD or two. I liked the plain panel look.
