Been 4 yrs since i last painted my wheel, heat and swea5 had paint breaking down.
So 1/2 pt of new paint mixed up
SEM surecoat waterborne
And repainted
Thinned with distilled water to spray in preval sprayer. due to EPA restrictions /cost paint shop cant put in a rattle can anymore
Paint shop didnt color match as good this time, but i fidnt ferl like pursuing it . With coronavirus it was hard enough getting it anyway. Its a hair darker and less gray than before.....Ill get it better next time...
Adding crosslinker will make more resistant...its $250 for 4 oz bottle Nd paint shop dont carry it
Thanks.
i really just wanted to point out again...what a great interior paint the SEM Surecoat Waterborne is... Cures quick...easy cleanup...great adhesion ...no smell....perfect sheen. If you get an imperfection....sand it lightly 400grit and spray that area again. Holes/dimples can be filled with drops, let cure, sand fown. And usually....your local auto paint dupply can match your interior perfectly.
Unfortunately i think the one i been using got rid of counter guy that did such awesome paint matches....he would spend an hour to match a $25 sale.......the franchise owner is doing it now, and he sucks.... my guess is because he won't put any time in it... Just wants to match a paint code and sell to a shop. I'm going to be looking for a new paint store that cares......
Nice to have a steering wheel thats not sticky again on humid days...
Looks really good! My steering wheel is tan with leather wrap. It's in bad shape. I've looked at steering wheel leather wraps online but none are the exact same color as my steering wheel. Replacing the whole steering wheel is about the only way to get the original color leather. That's cool what you did

your steering wheels probably fine
The finish has broken down
You can pay $250 to have it recovered.....or about 40 to paint it...
Man that looks great. I've used the SEM Classic coat aresols on my steering wheels and have always been pleased with the results. Great way to save a part that wears out without some love
Straightening garage cabinet, found some paint the paint guy mixed for me 4 yrs ago...extra not fit in rattle can so he put in a small can. SEM surecoat waterborne.... Just 3/8" in bottom. Perfect match. Dabbed it on some spots where dash was flaking or scratched with a toothpick....perfect...cannot see where it was done.
A good paint guy is awesome. Label had wts of colors etc to reproduce.
