Default Spyder LED Headlamp Assembly Install Problem (Maybe)

Hey Gang,

I have recently started to do some minor upgrades to my 2003 F150 Supercrew. I was thinking that I would buy a new truck this year, then I thought, "Why should I?". I mean, with 146K miles on my '03, she is still humming.

The latest upgrade is replacing the factory headlights with aftermarket Spyder LED headlights. The wiring went very smooth, but once I installed the lights, the assemblies do not fit flush like the factory lights did. Not even close, in my opinion. I took the truck to my mechanic for a second opinion and was told they are installed correctly, but no idea how to make them flush.

Take a look at the pics and let me know if you have any suggestions on how to make them flush. Or let me know if this is how they are supposed to look.

I by no means know anything about aftermarket headlights, but aren't there 3 adjuster ***** on the back of those, so you could just adjust all 3 of them the same amount until it brings the headlight housing in?

By the way, those look pretty sharp on your truck!

Every Projector style headlight I've seen, sticks out far..... never seen that that actually sits in.

See, told you guys I didn't know anything.

I wonder why anyone would design them so they won't sit flush like stock.

Thanks for the suggestion and comments. I ended up taking the plastic rotator clips off of the three bolts and that seemed to give me just the room I needed. I also removed the metal clips that you see in the pictures.

I am new to this forum, but guys like y'all are making this fun!

Are the lights any brighter over the stock reflector type housing? Is the pattern any different? Project further?

My stock housings are faded and scratched. Since I have to replace them anyway, I'm considering an upgrade to a projector type housing.

IMO, they suck. I have the same exact ones and they suck. Now i dont know if its the lights i have in them but the projectors are pretty bad as far as output. I have to use the highs to even see anything and there is no adjustment on those besides to jimmy the headlights up or down. I personally wouldnt recommend them. Just my opinion though. I have HIDS in mine. Thinking about putting stocker ones back in.

I have also been disappointed with the output of the low beams. They are not nearly as bright as the stock halogens. I am researching now to see if there is a fix for this. So if anyone comes up with anything, please post it here.

Did you use an HID kit or are yours the HID projectors by Spyder? I just started looking around to see if I can mod mine in some way without jeopardizing safety.

BTW-today's project: Fix display in overhead console and maybe some touch-up painting.
