Default Sputtering

My truck as been sputtring lately and it back fires every now and then and it has a rough idle. I also have lost power to so does any one know what that could be? it also has 162,000 on the motor if that matters.

Does it have a check engine light? Probably just a misfire. When was the last time plugs/wires have been changed, if ever, on the truck? This would be a good place to start. Otherwise, a possible COP or coil pack is bad. A little more info would be helpful, I'm just shooting in the dark.

it could be a maf sensor problem... if it back fires, that means a lean air/fuel mixture..
just my 2 cents

But remember, he doesn't have a CEL...and I would almost think that if the MAF had an issue, you'd be getting a light. That of course could be wrong though...If if has lost power, is there a chance of a clogged cat or something? Again, I would think that would throw a light though.

How did the truck run before/after you changed the plugs and wires? Also, did you use Motorcraft plugs and wires on the truck? I've heard a bunch of horror stories about people trying to save a few bucks and putting just regular joe-blow plugs/wires in these tritons, they really seem to not like them.

The truck ran fine i just started havin problems after i replaced the o2 sensors. I only use motorcraft thats all my truck hs ever seen its even had motorcraft oil all its life for 161. Do you think somthins wrong with the o2 sensors? cause i don't have my check engine light on. How can you tell the cat is clogged?

i just recently had a sluggish truck so i replace the spark plugs witch cleared it up for awhile but it came back... so last night i replace all the C.O.P and the truck runs like a champ now!!! all this happened without a CEL.. so i guess it could be a coil problem.. not getting a full burn could cause it to back fire...

could also be a injector problem... you could try seafoam through the gas tank and suck some through the brake booster line and see if that helps!!!
