Default speedo recalibrating

Has anyone used the hypertech speedo recalibrator? part number 742000, to recal speedo for bigger tires or gearing changes.

Any luck?

i tried the superchips flashpaq and could not calibrate the speedo for the 33's i put on. I called the tech hotline and tried everything. I ended up returning the superchips unit, my speedo was always faster than my gps...about 6 - 11 km's faster? Was not impressed

my used 2003 XLT came with 20 inch wheels. Others tell me the onboard computer will compensate without any special calibration. That does not seem right to me. Other than the Ford house, what kind of shops could do this for me?

I put larger tires on my truck and my speedo is off by - 8 or 9 MPH so the computer did not recalibrate. Fortunately someone was following me and told me later I was doing almost 10 MPH over the speed limit but my Speedo said 70. Of course the faster I go the more off it is.

get a gps and figure out how much you're over. I'm about 5mph on mine but once i get up to 70mph I'm 10mph over

you can go to a dealer and have your speedo fixed but its going to cost $90-$100 at least that's what i was quoted. you'd be better off buying a programmer.

your odometer is also off. mine skips a mile every 5 miles or so.

yea you will need a dealer or a programmer to recalibrate the speedo, it will not do it by itself. but 90-100 bucks? it only takes 10 minutes lol, i've played with the ford programming system on their laptops.

yea $90 man, I called my local dealer and that's what they told me over the phone. spend a little more and buy a programmer and you get more than just your speedo fixed.
