Default Speed Daddy headers

So yeah, I'm wondering if Speed Daddy headers for a 4.2v6 are any good. I already have true dual exhaust now, but for farts and giggles, would the headers make a noticeable difference without any tuning?

Assuming they are shorty heads. No they wont make a difference.

Nope, and even with tuning you won't get anything that's not anymore noticeable than doing a tune up.

Yep, they're shortys. Okay, I guess the sound won't be that much different either

Default short headers

ok I'm sorry but I have to say short headers not making a difference is FALSE! !! Do your resurch before giving false info. long tube headers are best for mid to high range rpm. Short are for low to mid range rpm.

ter everywhere in the RPM range with the right tuning and exhaust. Shorty's are not worth the time or the cost.

Long tube headers are bet

Now, I looked into the differences between shorty and long-tube headers on the internet and supposedly shorties do give a small boost in low end. If that's accurate, then I'll definitely think about getting a set, that is if aftermarket headers have larger diameter tubing than the stock exhaust manifolds. My 4.2 has no problem in the high rpm, not bragging about my measly v6, just sayin that it scoots along just fine in high speed. Taking off is another story and I just want to add a little more oomph to keep me satisfied with my 12 year old, paid-off truck

Longtubes alone hardly provide any noticeable gains for the money. It will free up maybe 5-10hp at best for the thousand you spent. And those figures are assuming you have had your truck tuned to take advantage of the improved scavenging.

I don't have experience with shorties but im pretty sure power gains are going to be negligible.

Money is better spent getting a tune if you're looking for a few more ponies.

EDIT: Just noticed you're talking about a V6.

Good Luck with the hamster motor. I have no relative suggestions for LT's vs. Shorties. If you're going to stick with a V6 buy one of the Vortech SI supercharger kits if you really want more power.

Boy that's some BS right there, - I've witnessed the dyno difference more than a few times. On one ocassion with thses engines, they went from stock to shorties = a no gainer, - shorties to LT's +30 hp and 35 torque.

We are speaking about the Ford Modular Engine correct ? Well I am anyway and that article you posted is real close to the opposite effect LT's/Shorts have with these engines.

With these, LT's increase is from idle up, more focused on low end.

Shorties, there's absolutely nothing down low or mid. They don't make it worse, but they don't make it any better. The only time I seen shorties have any gains at all is way up in the higher rpms where for the most part, doesn't matter because it's not considered usable HP.

When you research, I suggest you research engine specific as they are not all the same.
