The ticking noise could be the timing chain slapping. Guide or tensioner failing? The tensioners typically leak oil at the seal to the block. The seal is impregnated to the tensioner, a poor design compared the earlier modulars. Gonna most likely be expensive. Oil pump is right there up front too.

Unfortunately, I was not able to do any of the work myself as I live in an apartment complex and also lack most of the tools or time if something went wrong... so I paid about $480 to get it done.

They did plugs and boots.

Lol of course it's going to be expensive! I am envisioning needing to replace both timing chains and all the related parts, because that is the luck I have.

I might as well just wait for the motor to crate and buy a new truck!

When I called Ford dealer they wanted $660 to change plugs and 85 bucks for everyone that broke, not sure why so much because my year truck is not in the batch with the breaking plug problem.... I just changed the one that I was having the miss fire code on and cleaned the IAC and so far problem is fixed.

Think I'll do it myself, figured if it wasn't too much I wouldn't bother.
