Default Sound system installation help!

Im going to install a sub in my truck just for the hell of it. But how do I get the 12v wire ,from the battery to the sub amp, into the truck?

Find a hole in the firewall or very carefully make one, making sure you don't drill into something on the other side. Use a rubber grommet ! Then route it under the carpet to where ever you are planning to mount the amp. Cut a small slit in the carpet just big enough to let the cable slip through and mount to your amp.

PLEASE use a heavy duty fuse on your power cable. Other wise if something goes wrong you will be very sorry and something at one end of the cable or the other will melt down !

Run your switch hot wire through the fuse panel and under the carpet as well, and any RCA hookups you need to run. It's not a bad idea to use some of that wire wrap to keep down on wear and tare of the wire should someone step on it.

If you look under the dash on the driver side above the steering column the should be a hole with a grommet in it just cut a x in the grommet and run it threw there. And don't forget to run the power cable and rcas on opposite sides of the cab otherwise you'll get interference between the wires and hear static from the sub.

Grommet is easiest to get to from the hood. It's beside the brake booster on the fire wall.

If your putting everything in the backseat then take out one bolt on the seat bracket and ground it there

I forgot all about running them on the opposite sides. That is true though you will end up with some weird sounds if you don't. I agree with grounding close on the seat mounting bolts, Just make sure your not grounding to a fully painted surface. You don't have to grind down your whole seat bracket but a little sand paper at the ground point will go a long ways.

And to hide the wires the plastic door sill trim pieces just snap right off and there's plenty of room under them

I did tht. I installed it all in like 3 hours. It looks professional. Except for my sub on top of the seat. I need a box tht will fit under the seat
