Exclamation New Stereo Problems

well since it's christmas i got a new CD player for christmas and i had a sony it was starting to crap out so i installed this new pioneer in there and now when i go to start it the guages go all the way and then back to the bottom and the starter like clicks a few times then it barely starts

i am worried to drive it any where cause it might strand me somewhere (won't start cause it barly starts now)

i can hear the clicking from the floor and it every once in a while it clicked before then it starts fine.

Did i forget to do something this is the first deck i've put in myself

Help Appreciated

Are you talking about the starter? It's because its not getting enough power to start the motor. It's like someone lifting weights thats too heavy for em.. they make all sorts of noises trying but they cant lift it

well then i got thinking here

i started the truck before i even took the old one out to warm it up and it started fine

and i used the old harness adapter to put the new stereo one onto and when i was done i had 3 wires left over one for amplifier and 2 for dash lights those 3 wires i had no thing for and the dash one was used before cause i cut it and now i am wondering it i am drainin the battery by not hooking that up? ( i have no clue i hate wireing stuff)

and for the ground wire it came with a bolt and i was soppost to bolt it to paint free metal but i cut it and wired it into the ground that came in the adpater harness is that ok??

If it was fine before the new head unit and starting making trouble just after install, you probably have a high load short somewhere draining the battery and lowering your system voltage below what the starter needs.

You are at risk for a fire and should remove your radio and adapter harness immediately. Charge the battery after that and try starting it. Look for frayed wires or burns.

Batteries don't usually go bad overnight, but electrical faults can damage the battery. Have it checked after confirming the helth of the wiring system.

^^^X2 You mave scraped insulation off of a power wire by puuling on the harnes or if you left the harness connected while you connected wires, a power wire may have shorted out. Not saying you did this but ALWAYS conect radio harness to adaptor BEFORE its connected to vehicle wiring harness
