Angry something is very wrong!! >:|

hey guys,

I have a 2000 5.4L 2wd extended cab F150, it has a 3in fabtech coil lift, and it only has 30 inch AT tires on it. And the huge problem is that im getting around 9 mpg's!!!! i baby the throttle, I always try to keep it under 2k rpm, unless im going onto the freeway or something. anyway the other day I decided to take a look at my throttle body, and it was caked in carbon from the egr. I cleaned it out and got my dremel and polished the inside, i did the throttle body and the thing that the throttle sits on (i cant think of the name, but its the other metal piece that sits on the intake manifold). and there was not even a slight increase... and its not throwing any codes

i have put in new plugs
new fuel and air filter
cleaned the MAF
did the gotts mod and took out the silencer in the intake
i do regular oil changes
tire pressure is where its supposed to be at
it also has a cat back flowmaster exhaust.

and 9 mpg's!!

and there is soooo much wrong with this truck, balljoints, trans, rear diff, shocks, leaf springs, bakes, theres a huge list, and i know its gonna cost a lot of money. i only got it for 6k, its my first truck. and dont get me wrong i love FORDS!!! but you think its worth fixing it??

sorry for the looong post

Do you have a programmer to account for the tire size? The mileage will be off with the tires.

Well if the rear diff is messed up that will have a big impact on mpg's, along with the tranny. If you figure out what's wrong with the diff and tranny, fix them first, they are they powertrain that make you move. After you fix them make sure to change the oil in both with a good synthetic ATF fluid, and a good synthetic gear oil. I have royal purple in everything except my motor, I use pennzoil ultra. Lubrication plays a huge factor in mpg's.

no i dont have a programmer, and the tires are only like half an inch bigger than stock. i dont see how that would have a huge impact. and i also run full synthetic in my engine and diff.

3.6% impact if is it off by .5 inch. Do you do a lot of short trips? Getting better mileage is like shooting in the dark, you can do a thousand things and still never hit the target.

maybe you need to clean the MAF again and clean /check the air filter..

and maybe the balljoints are holding the truck down, the trans are not helping with the mpg because maybe slipping, rear diff maybe agravating the situation, brakes maybe stuck....

so... im glad the truck is moving. but you have to attack all those problems... maybe new fluids, antislip, replace/fix/clean those brake pads, grease those joints...

Along with what picaflor said.
1. PCV valve ever replaced?

2. Cats may need looked at.

Get the major problems fixed before worrying about mileage.

First off, how are you measuring your mileage?
