And I've ran the first set of ACCEL coils for 4 years with not one problem and that was with same brand of plugs. And also I wasn't making an excuse about the coils I was simply stating they were expensive and I couldn't afford them. And the truck has been driven less than 2 miles since it's been missing so I doubt the CATS are melted. And so you understand why I can't afford them is I have two young children that need lots of medicine and this happened at the time I needed to buy that medicine so they came first. But I've patiently wait ed for replays on here but all I've gotten is an arrogant answer and I've already said it was read on a scanner All I wanted was help with my situation. Thanks for your time
Accel coils really are no better then the chinise made coils on E-bay if money is an issue by all means get those. 89 bucks shipped maybe even less. I get Densos at rock auto for 182 plus shipping. When you gt off brand make sure to save the old coils so when they fail you have back ups. You have to drive it a little to get the code for the cylinder. 2 miles isnt enough..

I understand bud. The scanner says it's on bank 2 that's all it'll tell us as of now. I was told the 97's up too about 2000 want throw a check engine light. True or false I'm not sure. This is the newest truck I've ever had so I'm still learning things about these. Guess I'll start pulling connections and see which one doesn't change anything and go from there. I'm betting I busted a plug or possibly got a bad coil. I'm planning on upgrading coils and such this summer along other things with the truck. The blown plug was my fault as I heard the ticking over a month ago and was planning a tune up but I waited too long and lost a plug. Thanks for your knowledge

What is the code number it gave you 171 172? I'd check the PCV elbow if thats the code its giving you. Good chance you broke it open doing the plug change and you got a vacuum leak.

on the code for miss fires it all depend on how bad the miss is some times on intermittent it can be pretty tough to get it to throw a code tellin you witch one. If its a solid miss it should throw pretty quick.

Was your coil mounted securely on #7? lose coils cause blowouts.

There is no code bud It want put one out Scanner can't find a stored code either I'm also replacing the elbow tomorrow hopefully. The original small cracks in it but held vacuum from a mity vac. I'm afraid to keep trying to drive it as I don't want to screw up the cats. I wish I had a pic of it but I couldn't get the piece that sits behind the dpfe?? To hold vacuum. It about 4" tall with an electrical connector and has two vac lines that connect to the bottom and has a round top. It would just hiss air when I tried messing with it. I just don't know what it is so I'm not sure if it's working right or not

I'm pretty sure your describing an EGR part there is a suck test for that that jbrew is versed with and he knows all the diagnostic steps for that so with any luck he'll chime in on it. Do you have any hills around? if you can let your engine work slowly up a hill they usually quickly throw the missfire codes doing that.

Well so far boys it's running like a charm all missing is gone. We found out the miss was coming from cylinder number 2. Changed plug and all is well for now. If I remember correctly that is the plug I thought I heard the faint sound of a porcelain crack and took it back out but didn't see anything and just put it back in and it ended up biting me in the butt. Thanks for the help and knowledge boys. And apologies for the rant a few posts back
