Default Skipping while applying throttle

Well, had my fuel pump start going out two weeks ago, fixed it, changed my filter too.
Now today I was driving home (two hour drive, filled up before I left work) and about 3/4's of the way home my truck acted like the tranny was skipping or slipping....bad... every time I applied the foot.... the acceleration would skip, skip, skip... like my tranny was slipping.
When I got home, checked the fluid level... was about 1/2 quart low... so I put some new stuff in (yes, the designed for "older models with mercron" stuff), but when I took it out for a test drive (about 2 miles), it still is skipping..
So my question is... what could cause it?

bad gas?
tranny?
throttle position sensor?

I replaced the IAC last month....

P.S. It does not skip while running and revving in park...

Hope someone has had this issue and can give me a fix... I am working fairly long hours and the trip is 2 hours one way...so I get home late all tired.. and have only the weekend (sometimes) to work out the issue.

Thanks for any assistance

There is a leak.. Make sure to check it at normal operating temp. Tranny fluid expand when hot. If you overfill air bubble will be trap in the fluid causing another problem. if you don't see any sign of leak anywhere it's leaking inside the radiator.

You put Mercon without "V"?

Only happens on D? Check R, 2, 1 and overdrive off. Try accelerating starting from 1 with overdrive off

Did the overdrive off, was the first thing I thought of.... still same... low throttle jerky, over 2 grand better.....
Checked the drive shaft... a smidge of play on the front.. (wheels up no pressure), about 1/16th of wiggle up and down.... less than that on the shaft.
I checked it after I got home after a 2 hour drive.... and added about maybe 1/4 quart... (I was using a gallon jug so I could not tell exact add), it brought the stick measurement up to almost full, it was near the bottom of the "hot" area.
Stick calls for mercon V, I put in the one that says for mercon V and DXIII (?)
Made sure about that, the stuff I had in the truck (2 quarts) was the wrong type, so I used the stuff that I had left over from my old bronco

Remove the valve body and install this kit. You don't need to remove the transmission. Click each part on the kit to view the symptoms. Upgrade the seperator plate and accumulator to avoid future problem. Only the ring kit cannot be installed without droping the tranny.

Exactly right.... did a live feed test with my ODB II tester and got a number eight cylinder missfire.
Changed it out and now it runs great...

see a misfire can be good news
coils and plugs are way cheaper and easier than a new tranny
