Default Silly radio problem

Hoping someone has had a similar problem. '99 F150. Radio suddenly stopped working. When clock button is pushed, time displays for a couple of seconds. Otherwise, nothing. Looks like I have power to the fuse and fuse is good. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have two buttons sticking in the depressed position. Try cycling all the buttons a few types and flick them pretty hard. Hope it is the simple fix, but that is usually not the case. Try this before pulling the truck apart.

No display at all. I really haven't done anything yet except check power to the fuse. Is there a ground wire coming off the radio?

I'll try the cycling. I'm with you...don't want to skip the simple possibilities. Thanks.

Try pulling out the radio and checking the remote power on wire. That wire is conected to the ignition and turns the radio off when the ignition is off. But would still let you see the time by pushing the clock button.

I love Fords, but the radios SUCK. Its not unusual for one to just die like that. Sounds like a bad radio.

That is a very good suggestion jacobs 4x4, but i think it gets remote power from another source rather than ignition. Notice that when you turn the truck off the radio remains on until you open a door. If it were direct remote wire via ignition it would shut off as soon as the key was turned, but as usual, they have to go and congest everything with fancy logic modules. I am not exactly sure how it works on the newer vehicles, but I think jacobs nailed it. Is the radio keeping the correct time?????? If it is, you have good constant voltage, to it. It has to have constant power to keep time and presets (memory). There is also probably a fuse in the remote turn on, whether it be from ignition source, or module, and now that jacobs mentions it, thats probably culprite.
